This Monday 26 October, BBC One is screening a half hour programme on
The Co-operative’s ethical campaigning and support for the Beaver Lake
Cree Nation in their legal challenge against tar sands developments
within their ancestral lands.

The Beaver Lake Cree Nation is a small indigenous community in Alberta,
Canada, whose lands are being destroyed, degraded or threatened by the
large scale deforestation and pollution arising from tar sands
developments. They have launched a legal challenge, taking on not just
the Canadian and Albertan Governments, but also every major oil company
in the world, whose expansion plans for the tar sands could be
jeopardised by the case.

This fight is a true David versus Goliath battle, with the lawsuit
potentially the only thing between us and runaway climate change.

The film is to be screened on BBC 1 North West, and may be shown
