Non-dairy ice cream

Technically, soya ice cream has to be called 'iced non-dairy dessert'. Sorbets are also vegan and many of the brands on the dairy table also produce sorbets. Soya ice cream brand Swedish Glace is owned by a Swedish dairy company whilst the Tofutti brand is made by a 100% dairy free US company but it uses egg whites and seafood in some products (but not in ice cream!). MotherHemp has been taken over by a farm group which specialises in developing non food crops such as hemp or biomass. It claims to have a strict non-GM policy. Two UK companies producing the Sunrise and Oat Supreme brands get an extra mark for being totally vegan companies.
