WH Smith offers kids junk food vouchers
According to a press release dated 4th September from the Children's Food Campaign, its research had revealed that WH Smith was offering children cut-price junk food vouchers with their back-to-school stationery. The campaign, run by London based-NGO Sustain, explained that the McDonalds discount vouchers offered could be used to purchase food, like Big Macs, Double Cheeseburgers and fries, with four times the maximum daily salt levels and over 3 times the daily saturated fat levles recommended for a child.
Parents had also reported that WH Smith staff had been offering cut-price chocolate bars to customers, including children, while they were being served.
