Woman with prosthetic leg claims discrimination

Starbucks is being sued by Janet Marx for disability discrimination after she was refused entry to a restroom to adjust her prosthetic limb.

According to Reuters the plaintiffs prosthetic became loose so she headed into a restroom to tighten a screw on it. However on her way to the restroom a Starbucks employee chased her down and informed her that she needed to buy something in the store before she could use the restroom. Marks was forced to hold her leg while she purchased two beverages. She was then allowed to use the facilities.

She alleges disability discrimination, and seeks damages and attorney's fees.

Marx claims that she was treated differently because of her disability. She says that the store denied her the same services, advantages, accommodations, facilities, and privileges provided to non-disabled individuals who were using the restrooms before buying drinks.
