We bought a Vaude Taurus ultra light for a month travelling in Southern Spain in January. It is excellent for such a light tent, spacious and adequate headroom. It has been used on several UK trips and has proved water and wind proof. We have been very careful of the groundsheet as I feel that is its weakest point.
I am into my third pair of Scarpa boots and they have lasted many years of Scottish hillwalking. They need a lot of waxing when new, but not so much once they are sealed. It is important to find boots that are comfortable for your feet (test on a downhill slope in the shop).
For lightweight boots Hi-Tec v-lites are proving to be good value for money. Being so light they obviously don't last as long as the heavier boots.
It is worth looking at independent review sites before buying to get the right equipment which will last and not need replacing too soon.
Now over to EC to see how ethical these products are.
