Come and join in this free Manchester event

As you may know, Manchester is hosting the Co-ops United International World Festival as part of the culmination of the UN's International Year of Co-operatives.

There are loads of free events centred around Manchester Central, (Wed 31st October to Fri 2nd November).

Ethical Consumer, will be there on all three days, so do come and meet us or join in some of our events:

Ideas Zone

We have a stand in the Ideas Zone with other radical co-operatives such as New Internationalist, Radical Routes and News from Nowhere.

Come and chat to our staff about ethical buying, vote for ideas to drive co-operation forward, and learn about our wider research and campaigning work.

More information on our voting project appears at

'Co-operative Alternative to Capitalism?' Workshop

We will be making awards to the winners of our 'Is there a Co-operative Alternative to Capitalism?' essay prize during the week at a (sold out) event on the Thursday 1st.

But there will be a chance though to meet some of the winners and Ethical Consumer prize judges, and to talk about the subject generally, at a special 'Co-operative Alternative to Capitalism?' Workshop on Friday 2nd at 11.30am in a Pod in the Ideas Zone.

2012 Ethical Sales Workshop

Rob Harrison from Ethical Consumer will be speaking at another Workshop on Friday 2nd, 13.30-1430 at Central 7, Manchester Central.

Here Rachel Kenyon from the Co-operative Group will be previewing the 2012 Ethical Consumerism Report – the UK’s most authoritative study of ethical buying. This workshop will examine trends in sales, explore attitudes and perceptions and reflect on over a decade of ethical consumerism both in the UK and overseas.

For all these free events, just turn up and register on the door.
