Includes three new buyers' guides rating over 80 car, rice and green electricity brands.

The latest issue of Ethical Consumer magazine reveals the ethical Best Buys for cars, rice and green electricity.

The reports conclude that:

  • the greenest car brand is not necessarily the model with the lowest CO2 emissions
  • some green electricity tariffs source their electricity from nuclear power
  • buying the most ethical brand of rice does not need to burn a hole in your pocket.

Elsewhere in the magazine we investigate why Ecover is under attack from animal rights protestors, how tap water is being rebranded to counter bottled water sales, who won the Captain Hook Awards for Biopiracy and why 'carrotmobbing' is the new ethical consumer campaign tool.

To see these reports and articles now, subscribe to the magazine. They will not appear free online for another six months. By subscribing, you'll also get early access to the next issue which will have buyers' guides to football clubs, book sellers and nuts.
