Buy Nothing Day 2008 is held on November 29th. Every year consumers are called upon to celebrate a day of detox from consumerism.

The message is simple: Buy Nothing Day exposes the ecological and ethical consequences of consumerism.

As our readers know, ethical consumerism isn't just about buying 'ethical products' or even buying from 'ethical companies' – it's about taking an ethical position on consumerism itself.

With the main-streaming of once-niche areas, such as Fairtrade goods and organic food, and with 'ethical' becoming aspirational in the life-style supplements of the Sunday papers, it's more important than ever to argue that ethical consumerism doesn't mean just buying different stuff. It means buying less stuff altogether.

Remember our limited edition Buyers' Guide to Nothing (a four page PDF report which contains no words or pictures) is available for one day only on Saturday November 29th. Hurry while stocks last. Buy nothing and get nothing free!

Re: Celebrate Buy Nothing Day with Ethical Consumer Magazine

I'm sorry, I support the principle and all but isn't this sentence a massive contradiction or is it meant to be a joke? ---- 'Buyers’ Guide to Nothing' is available now . You can join the celebrations by clicking here to down load the report at a bargain price of just £3.
