Saturday 31st March, 8.30pm is Earth Hour

This year's Earth Hour takes place on 31st March at 8.30pm.

WWF’s Earth Hour is a simple idea that’s become a global phenomenon, with hundreds of millions of people turning off their lights to show they want to create a brighter future for the planet. Spanning a record 135 countries in 2011, this year’s Earth Hour is set to be even bigger.

Landmark buildings across the UK will be switching off including Buckingham palace, Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament and the iconic Piccadilly Lights. Over 3,300 schools have signed up and tens of thousands of people, organisations and businesses will also be switching off their lights at 8.30pm.

Everyone can sign up for WWF’s Earth Hour 2012. For more information and to sign up please visit www.wwf.org.uk/earthhour
