UK garment factories are producing clothes for our high street in unacceptable conditions
Channel 4's Dispatches, broadcast on Monday 8th November 2010 revealed that UK garment factories are producing clothes for our high street in unacceptable conditions
Monday night's Dispatches, 'Fashion's Dirty Secret,' showed shocking footage filmed by an undercover reporter, of the poor working conditions of workers at a garment fatory in Leicester which was producing clothes for several high street shops including New Look, Peacocks, Jane Norman and BHS.
The footage showed verbally abusive supervisors, huge workloads, long working hours and levels of pay at below half theUK's legal minimum wage. Many of the factory employees had no visa and so were unable to complain about their working conditions.
