New campaign kicks off on London's South Bank
The Move Your Money (MYM) UK campaign begins tonight at the New Economics Foundation's (NEF) 'In The Public Interest' event. The citizens' assembly explores and debates ideas to put the public interest back into the heart of public life and tonight's event will focus on a new campaign to get money into ethically responsible banks.
NEF say on their website, "The concept of the public has been systematically eroded over the past four decades, replaced by private and corporate interests. What was good for them was deemed good for all. But from banking to politicians and the media that has been shown to be false. The only way further crises can be avoided so that Britain can transition to a new economy and society is though the reassertion of a "public interest" in political and corporate life."
