In December 2015, The Sunday Times, The Guardian and Financial Times reported that Mondelez UK, the parent company of Quaker-founded, Birmingham based confectioners Cadbury, paid no corporation tax in 2014-15 in the UK, despite making profits in the country of £96.5m in that financial year. In 2017, the Daily Mail reported that Cadbury had not paid any corporation tax for the sixth successive year.
The Methodist Tax Justice Network is calling a boycott of the company:
until we see evidence that Cadbury are paying tax commensurate with their sales in all countries in which they operate, we will refuse to buy from a company who avoid making their appropriate contributions to wider society.
The campaign also asks followers to write to the company, explaining why they are avoiding its products.
