In August 2018 Ethical Consumer viewed Viva!'s website for the company's environmental report. The following statement was found "we only sell vegan products. This means our products: do not contain any animal-derived ingredient or by-product (see our handy L-Plate Vegan guide for the 'Hidden Nasties'); are not tested on animals at any stage during production; and do not involve any systemic cruelty to an animal or human before or during the manufacturing process."
It went on to state ""We try to source products that are both organic and ethically-produced; meaning the environmental impact is low and products are fairly-traded. Not all products that are organic or fairly-traded carry the Soil Association or Fair-Trade certification - this does not mean they are not environmentally-produced or ethically-made. We try to include pertinent information as to the product's ethical credentials in the product's description, including links (if possible) to the company's own ethical policy."
The company was reported to have a turnover of less than £10.2m. It was therefore considered to be a small SME and was providing a environmental and social alternative in the fact it sold only items suitable for vegetarians and vegans.

In August 2018 Ethical Consumer viewed Viva!'s website and found that it sold leaflets and posters which were not labelled as using FSC certified paper.
Due to the fact Viva! did not have a paper sourcing policy it lost half a mark under Ethical Consumer's Habitats and Resources category.
