In August 2018 Ethical Consumer viewed Acala's website and found that it had a supplier code of conduct.
The supplier code of conduct covered child labour, forced labour and working conditions. While the definitions of the provisions required could be defined more in line with the ILO conventions the fact it had a supplier code of conduct which was publicly available was considered to be an effective if not explicit policy addressing workers' rights within supply chains. The company received Ethical Consumer's best rating for supply chain management due to the fact it had a turnover of less than £10.2m and had an effective if not explicit policy addressing workers' rights within its supply chain.
