In August 2018 Ethical Consumer viewed Amberoot's animal welfare policy which stated:
It did not sell products containing fur or leather.
It did not sell products containing wool products sourced from farmers who practice mulesing.
It did not sell products containing angora and other rabbit hair products.
Cashmere and mohair used in products must be sourced from producers with good animal husbandry.
Feathers and down it stated, "suppliers certified using Responsible Down Standard. Responsible Down Standard ensures that any removal of down and feathers from live birds (live plucking or molt harvesting) is prohibited; Force-feeding is prohibited; Holistic respect for animal welfare of the birds from hatching to slaughter is undertaken."
It did not sell products containing ivy.
With regards to silk it stated "Where possible we use peace/ethical silk. We currently sell products using regular silk, but aim to no longer sell such products after 2021."
Overall Amberoot was considered to have a positive policy addressing animal derived materials.
