In December 2019 Ethical Consumer received a completed questionnaire from Lucy Bee and also searched the Lucy Bee website for information on how the company protected the rights of workers in its supply chain.

Lucy Bee stated that all of the company’s products that could be Fairtrade certified were Fairtrade certified.

It stated "Lucy Bee pays a 10% premium for the farm gate price of its products, which is used to benefit the local community for that product, in the form of sustainable community projects AND a fair wage and price for their products. Lucy Bee gives 0.75% of its sales to the FairTSA to allow them to continue their work, including auditing and compliance of the Fair Trade scheme."

Lucy Bee Limited was considered a small company as it had a turnover of less than £10.2 million.

As a small company operating an effective mechanism of protecting the rights of workers in its supply chain, it was awarded Ethical Consumer’s best rating for Supply Chain Management.

Questionnaire December 2019 (9 December 2019)

In December 2019 Ethical Consumer viewed the questionnaire returned by Lucy Bee for information on its cocoa/cacao sourcing policy. It stated:

"As a part of our Fair Trade scheme, we are assured that everyone involved in the production of our cacao powder is receiving a fair wage as well as a contract. We pay a 10% premium on our product to make sure that this is the case."

It stated that all Cocoa was sourced from the Dominican Republic and certified by Fair TSA"

As all of Lucy Bee's Cacao was Fairtrade, it received Ethical Consumer's best rating for its cocoa sourcing policy.
