In July 2021, Ethical Consumer viewed the Biblio website for the company's environmental policy or report. On the website, the company stated that it was committed to “preserving the environment” and that the environment was one of the company’s four focus areas that was embedded in its business practices. It also mentioned that the company practised “recycling, energy-efficiency, compost, paper reduction where possible, and encourage buying local to reduce the carbon footprint”. The company did not provide any clear policies or reports relating to its environmental impacts.
Biblio mainly sold used books and stated that “buying used instead of new wherever possible is a great way that "green-conscious" consumers can reduce their environmental impact”.
As the company had a turnover of less than £10.2 million and was considered to be providing an environmental alternative it received an exemption under Ethical Consumer's Environmental Reporting category and therefore scored a best rating.
