In August 2021 Ethical Consumer viewed World of Books' website and found that the company sold some leather items, however, it was not considered to form a substantial part of its business. No leather policy could be found and therefore the company lost half a mark under the Animal Rights category. However, as these books were second-hand products the company did not lose marks under Ethical Consumer’s Pollution and Toxics category.
